As far as events go I look forward to Dora’s birthday party every spring. This year she decided to do the honey bee theme. Dora made this cute little banner. And hung it on an old french door.

She wore a pretty black skirt and lace black top with a vintage yellow hat from my boutique.

When she wasn’t wearing the hat she hung it on the vintage shutters from my shop.

I loved the candy bar buffet, complete with little boxes so everyone could fill their own little box to take home. This furniture piece was an old piece I had in my garage. Dora took it home and painted it white which makes it the perfect candy buffet. ( Why didn’t I think of that ? )

I  bought my vintage skirt at our boutique in old town Lake Elsinore just for Dora’s bee-day party. My shoes are from my shopping day in Paris .

I wrapped her present with some flowers that I made and used the same flower for her card and stamped celebrate. (This flower kit is from Target)

The table was set for 20 women and the fresh sunflowers made this event extra special.

Dora found this fabric at one on one of our thrift store shopping trips and made it into the runners.

The garden greenhouse (also from my boutique ) was filled with little jars of honey for each guest. Love this idea from Laura. Laura made most of the cute little decorations you see on the table.

The drink bar. Tea with orange slices, water with lemons and a sparkling fruit punch.  I loved Dora’s honey comb drink container.

Fresh and delightful salad, fresh fruit, berry sauce with scones. Bread with herb butters and cake for dessert.

A wonderful afternoon with the lady’s, I can’t wait to see what Dora has planned for next year. And Happy Bee-day Dora !

I love vintage black and white clothes for the summer and I decided to add them to my boutique.

Some vintage black and white looks I love. Simple striped tees with high-waisted shorts.

An all black classic bathing suit with a black rim sun hat. And a retro 1940 camera.

A ruffed black top with a pair of jean shorts.

The perfect stripe beach umbrella.

Simple French Tea

  My simple French tea started out with my dress form dressed for the occasion with a black corset and a white tutu with a black top hat. Maybe a little over the top but why not, it’s time for me to let my inner fun side out !  I wore my french skirt with my simple black top. Maria wore her french black and white tee with red pants and a little french hat. The banner was easy to make because I bought the flags from Micheal’s and just spray painted the letters black . I used my mismatched silver and my mic-matched white china cups for the tea. I hand stenciled numbers on my white plates. And I used a chandelier stamp for my napkins and for my menu cards.

The Tea was a  success and we loved serving tea and talking to all the ladies who came by. I was asked for my cake recipe. I used a store-bought mix and added pineapple juice (instead of water ) and chucks to the cake batter. For the frosting I used 1 stick of butter and 1 package of cream cheese at room temperature. Then I added 1 cup of powdered sugar and blended well. I garnished the top with pineapple chucks.

A simple but fun tea, have a great week.

New items at ” The Paper Mystique…”

Some new items I have added to my Boutique…

Vintage needle point pillows and a French Market chalkboard.

A linen dress form dressed with burlap and a paper brooch.

Old salvaged wood I found,  I added  some crown hardware. Makes a great candle display ! Vintage shudders.

Lot’s of vintage inspired paper items.

French garden inspired watering cans, floras and a silver crown. Garden greenhouses.  A larger burlap and black rod ion screen. Covers up a back door !

I tag all items with a large kraft tag, and I use white ink.

And lots of burlap wrapped spring floras. It’s hard replacing item that sell out over the weekend. I sold an old wine barrel , but I had so many items on it , I miss it all ready !

” The Paper Mystique ” will be hosting a full spring tea at ” Maria’s Antiques ” in Old town Lake Elsinore, Sat April 6th, come and join us !

Fresh Spring Easter table…

 I love paper ! So  I decided to make my table runner out of white polka dot kraft paper . I added some fresh spring teacup napkins, some small white bunny and my white dishes to create a simple but fresh spring Easter  table.

Whats nice about this color scheme is I can keep my eggs white and they look great in my french market wire basket. I decided to squeeze my orange juice and serve white tea. I picked up these white flower cut folded note cards at Micheals for seating .

Old miss match silver, white tea cups and an old watering can I picked up at a thrift store. It had flowers painted on it so I spray painted it white .

Spring Mad Hatters Tea…

It’s a spring Mad Hatters tea and Leo and Alexia are dressed with their very best tea party attire.  The weather is warming up here so a tea in the garden , is the perfect way to spend the afternoon. Not to mention the yummy cookies.  Alexia blew Leo a kiss !

Alexia was such a lady as she drank her tea, and Leo well… was such a little boy ! The vintage suitcase filled with a clock,  old books and tea items made this afternoon tea extra special. And of course a “drink me “ potion  to make little girls giggle.  Leo and Alexia enjoyed every moment of this enchanting tea.

“We’re all mad here !”  

These children  have way to much fun when they are together !

These are the cards I have created for my Paper Boutique. They are simple , pretty and  for Valentine’s Day.

I used kraft paper cards, with my black & white photography, and some simple white hearts. I use the courier font for all my cards, as I use my vintage type writer.

I like to embellish my cards with small details like a paper clip or small cutout .

My Studio & Boutique

Having a studio and boutique is a work in progress. I change my mind daily on props and displays. I have a nice industrial desk with my vintage type writer, and vintage cameras.  I  do a lot of my photo cards here . I still don’t have a place in my studio where I can shoot photography ,but I  love to shoot right outside in Old town.

I have all kinds of books from cook books to wedding books, and a few of my custom photography books.

I have my photo props such as angle wings, hats and vintage suitcases through-out the boutique.

This cute loft has a black and white checked floor which I love and old white stone walls , so I did not have to do anything to this space before I moved in. Except hang the lights on all the walls.

I love the old French garden style, so I have added some garden inspired items. I bought this vintage urn and pick up some silk flowers and tied a burlap ribbon around them. The water can is an antique from holland.

I decided I would make the white feathered angle wings my boutique logo, maybe I will have some store cards made up. I am now in the process of hanging some of my photographs on the wall. Still a work in progress but it’s a start !
